We’re wheels-up at ten of two this afternoon, and I’ve got plenty to do between now and then.
I think I’ve got pretty much everything I NEED for the trip; Mr. Chili’s travel mantra is “we have credit cards, and there are Wal-Marts where we’re going” so we’re not entirely screwed if we’ve forgotten anything important (which is why I TRIPLE check that I packed my glasses). Of course, this strategy is only effective when we’re going to places that DO have things like Wal-Marts but, so far, that’s not been a real issue.
We discovered last night that the disc driver on my laptop has finally shit the proverbial bed. Basically, that means I can’t watch a movie on my computer, which is a serious bummer because I’m going to be traveling home alone and will want all the diversion I can manage. Mr. Chili thinks he can upload a DVD onto my hard disc remotely (how many times have I mentioned that he’s a geeky-genius about such things? I’m so lucky!), so I’ll not be entirely up the creek. We’ll watch a DVD on his laptop on the way out, and he’s loading a few episodes of the second season of Grey’s Anatomy to my iPod to help ease the homeward-bound boredom.
I’ve composed a three-page missive for my sister and I’m still not sure I’ve covered everything. I’ve also got a couple of seriously trusted friends on alert, and left Auntie their numbers, so I’m reasonably sure that the girls’ world won’t disintigrate while we’re gone.
Mr. Chili has to go to work for a while this morning. While he goes, I’m headed to the grocery store to stock up on milk for the girls and nacho fixin’s for Auntie, then I’m coming home to double-check that I’ve packed all the really important stuff - munchies for the flight, the iPod, the camera and a book - I just finished I Am Legend by Richard Matheson and, on the advice of WeedWoman, am starting Stephen King’s Hearts in Atlantis on the trip.
I’m bringing the laptop and will, hopefully, be able to post from Vegas. I don’t think our apartment has wireless, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to find a network to join somewhere nearby. Keep checking back….

3 pages! Wow.
Yeah. It opens with “Auntie, Here’s way more than you need to know.”

I didn’t realize you were leaving today. Enjoy!
Don’t forget your glasses.
