But NO! We get “April snowstorms“!
The trees outside are all drooped and groaning under the weight of the eight or so inches of heavy, wet snow we got overnight. The girls are home from school and we’re planning a pretty easy day that includes venturing out for Easter dress shopping (because of the adventure that was last night, we never made it out for that) and then coming back to spend the rest of the day at home. Unless, of course, I get to the end of the road and decide that it’s not safe to be out, in which case we’ll pull a U-turn and settle in for the duration.
Mr. Chili left at the aforementioned ungodly hour this morning and caught his flight to Chicago (which I always spell “Chigago” the first time around and have to backspace to fix. I realized, when I stopped to think about it, that that’s how my grandfather actually said the word - “shih-GAH-go.” Funny…) and from there to Albuquerque (which I ALWAYS have to look up how to spell, and generally shorten to its airport code of ABQ). I’m not expecting to hear much from him after he lands in NM; I suspect he’s going to be busier than the proverbial one-armed paper-hanger once he gets back to the instrument.
Oh, and by the way; that picture I included with the post about yesterday’s fiasco about all of this - that’s not an actual picture of what happened to their toy. It’s been explained to me that what happened there was an “explosive decompression” that occurred when the pressure inside the instrument exceeded the materials’ ability to contain it in a zero oxygen, vacuum environment. The result was catastrophic and loud, but didn’t actually involve accelerant or spectacular flames. Really, though; from the descriptions I’ve heard, it may as well have.
(*** In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that I didn’t take this picture, either. I can’t figure out how to get photos that I’ve taken to format to blog-size yet; the come up HUGE. I tried to post a wedding picture of Dudley and Squeaky, but all I could see on the post was Dudley’s right ear. This picture is a pretty good representation of what I see outside my window, though, so there you have it….)
