Another Happy Birthday Wish

This happy birthday wish goes out to Auntie, my younger sister. Today, she turns four years younger than I.

We have had an interesting and, at times, problematic relationship. We’re not nearly as close as I would like us to be, but I still feel a connection to her that runs deep and strong. Here, for your edification, is a brief snapshot of my baby sister through my eyes:

~My sister is very much like a Skittle; she’s tough and slick on the outside, but soft and sweet with a little twinge of tart in the middle.

~She is the least girly-girl I know, but her toes are painted more often than mine.

~She has a gorgeous ability to discern the sublimely funny in almost any situation.

~She tells GREAT stories.

~She knows what she likes and has developed a personal style that is clean, crisp and spare. She almost always looks good, but in a practical, utilitarian way (see the “she’s not a girly-girl” comment above).

~She cares deeply about people, but isn’t the kind to put up with any unneccessary shit.

~She has a wonderful pragmatic streak, but that doesn’t keep her from knowing how to have a good time.

~She is my sister, and I love her very, very much.
