A bit of a history lesson today, my Lovelies; we’ve something to commemorate!
~ On May 30th, 1498, Columbus departed with six ships for his third trip to the New World.
~ In 1848, México ratifies treaty giving US New Mexico, California & parts of Nevada, Utah, Arizona & Colorado in return for $15 million.
~ Memorial Day was first observed in 1868 when two women in Columbus, Mississippi placed flowers on both Confederate & Union graves.
~ On May 30th, 1883, a rumor that the Brooklyn Bridge is going to collapse caused a stampede that killed 12 people.

~ The Lincoln Memorial was dedicated on May 30th, 1922.
~ The world’s 1st hovercraft, the SR-N1, was tested at Cowes, England in 1959.
~ Two red-headed boys were born on May 30th, 1962 to parents who weren’t expecting twins at all. One of them grew up to be the love of my life, my best friend, and the father of my children.
Happy birthday, You! I love you like crazy.

Ah, Columbus, the beginning of a genocide.
Ah, Mexico, their people don’t recognize that change in sovereignity.
Ah, flowers on graves, what an empty gesture (it’s in our memories we honor the fallen)(but have you seen that photo of a young woman prostrate on her fiance’s grave which has been on TV?).
Ah, mass hysteria, the bane of life–obviously.
Ah, Lincoln, where would we be without our greatest President.
Ah, hovercraft, an invention still looking for a use.
Ah, love, how strange the ways of fate in bringing us together (I’ve always considered that the odds are stacked against us meeting our true companions, and that it’s the best long-shot bet in the world!).
Happy BIrthday! I promise not to start any potentially deadly rumors about the Brooklyn Bridge. Well, at least not on your birthday.
