Ten mostly random things I’ve been thinking about lately:
1. I’m SO relieved that Yoga National Guard isn’t what I was scared it would be. While I don’t think we all quite bonded as a group, the instructors did a good job of getting us all comfortable with one another and I made an effort to meet a few new people. I’m much less afraid of this huge commitment than I was before I started.
2. Classes start today at TCC. I’m sure I’m ready and I’m certain it will be fine, but I’m still plagued by the start-of-a-new-term jitters that I always get when I’m heading into new classes with new students. Sigh.
3. The carpet people come on Friday to put new carpet upstairs. Once that’s done, we can move the girls out of their downstairs room and into our old room upstairs and we’ll (finally) move into our new room. This will be the first time (since the girls were babies and were sleeping in a crib in our room) that the whole family will sleep on the same level of the house. I find this strangely comforting.
4. The Apple Harvest Festival that my town holds every year is happening this Saturday. We’ve developed a little mini-tradition around this event: there’s a local “paint your own pottery” place uptown, and they always have a booth set up at the Apple Fair. Every year for the past two, the girls have gone to the booth and put their hand prints on tiles. I’m looking forward to adding another year to the collection, and to compare the tiles and see how my babies are growing.
5. It’s starting to get cool in the mornings. I’m going to have to dig out our fall/winter clothes before too long.
6. I wonder where our Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations are going to be held this year?
7. The first meeting of TCC’s Gay/Straight Alliance – founded by yours truly – meets next week. I’ve got to get off my ass and get that organized! (check out the logo!! One of my graphic arts students put it together, and Blue is gonna put it on buttons and tee shirts and shit!)
8. I’ve arranged with Kwizgiver to watch The Good German sometime this week so that we can have a literate and interesting discussion about it at her place. Care to join us?
9. Speaking of literate and interesting discussions; if Amazon doesn’t hurry the hell up, I’m going to be completely USELESS at the next Dark and Stormy Book Club podcast!
10. When it starts getting cold out, I really like a cup of hot cocoa before bed….
p.s. - four-and-oh, People! Woo-hoo! (Sorry, Seester!)
