There is Much Rejoicing in New England!
October 22, 2007 by mrschili
For those of us who enjoy our New England sports, I offer this little celebration:
The Red Sox win the ALCS pennant and clinch a World Series spot against the Colorado Rockies by winning three consecutive must-win games and beating the Cleveland Indians in game seven of the playoff series with a score of 11-2.
The Patriots go 7-0 against the winless Dolphins in Miami, taking a 49-28 lead. Brady threw a career-high 6 touchdown passes - five of them in the first half - and passed for 291 yards. Randy Moss was jaw-dropping impressive, snagging two nearly miraculous catches in the end zone in double-coverage.

Good gravy….I’m a Dolphins fan, too. Lots of boo hooing around here……
Sorry, Snob! You’ve got to cut us New Englanders a break, though - we’re usually cheering for losers, so this run of good luck (and good playing) is worth celebrating!
Whoopee!
My butt is still draging from staying up to watch the end of the game (Sox-Indians that is). It was worth it though.
BTW, don’t forget about us “non- New England” Sox fans. It’s not called the Red Sox Nation for nuttin ya know.
RIGHT, Dudley - sorry about that; I wasn’t trying to hog all the celebration for ourselves.
You DO know that Mr. Chili is planning on converging at your place for Game One of the 2007 World Series, right? I’m looking forward to his being able to jump up and down and yell at the screen without worrying about waking up any of his girls (me included). I’m jealous that he gets to see you, though - are you making any plans for business trips to New England anytime soon?
We spoke about that very trip last night after the Game 7 victory. Squeeky may banish us to the basement TV however, as she has to get up quite early the next morning, and the living room TV is tight under our bedroom.
I was able to stay “somewhat” quiet last night, but if you put Mr. Chili and me in the same room with the Sox on TV AND in the WS, well… all bets are off
In Colorado, there was a meltdown in the World Series ticket sales. About 200 customers were sold seats and then *thunk*, bupkis. If ticket sales count, you all win by default.
Way to go, New Englanders!! My students today were significantly dazed from excessive partying/celebrating over this past weekend. Much woo hoo!
