Mr. Chili and I were discussing the World Series yesterday.
Understand that I’m not much of a baseball girl. At all. That may be un-American of me, and I hope you don’t like me any less, but I just don’t enjoy the game all that much. I kind of feel about it the way George Carlin does; I’m much more of a football girl, myself.
I’m not stupid, though - I understand the rules of the game and have a firm grasp of the basics. I was looking for a point of clarification on the Series yesterday from Mr. Chili, and our conversation went something like this:
Me: So, you’re planning to go see Dudley for one of the Series games, yes?
Him: Yep.
Me: That means you’ve got seven opportunities - the World Series is a best of seven deal, right?
Him: No. Four.
Me: Huh? It is NOT a four game series - that wouldn’t work….
Him: Sure it is - the four games the Red Sox win!
Oh. Silly me!
I love that his Red Sox beer mug is half full! I also love that you took the time to learn the basics for him. You are a good wife! Do you have a sister? Oh wait, that’s me..

He’s a card that Mr. C isn’t he? Fingers crossed that he’s right.
The way things ae going (said with fingers tightly crossed) this could be over on Sunday evening. Hope he can still make it
BTW Squeeky is even less of a baseball girl than you are. That being said, she was checking in on Game 7 (or was it Game 6?) of the ALCS against Cleveland, which I was watching on DVR delay. When JD Drew hit the grand slam in the first inning, she came down stairs just to see my reaction when I got to see it.
She even knows the names of the starting players. She’ doomed
I’m hoping for the best, but the thought of Dice-K and (to a lesser extent) Lester pitching in Coors Field does not exactly fill me with confidence…
Booo Sox. The Rockies are the quintessential underdogs! They DESERVE to go to the series more than any other team around! I say this with pure objectivism, not as someone who grew up six hrs from Denver in a family of Rockies fans. I don’t care about baseball, but the myth of the underdog always catches my heart and my support. I’ll be sad if the Sox beat them.
