It’s the first day of 2007’s National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo)!
This is Fussy’s brainchild, and I signed up for the first ever event last November. The object is simple - bloggers commit to posting an entry a day for every day of November - that’s it, it’s as easy as that.
Of course, I’m the OCD moron who never STOPPED the once-a-day posting thing when NaBloPoMo ‘06 was over. I remember reading a bunch of NaBloPoMo-er’s blogs in December, and they were breathing huge SIGHS of RELIEF that they were freed of the once-a-day, every day commitment. Not I! I kept blogging. Obsessively. Even on Christmas. I missed one day after 141 - I forgot to post something on St. Patrick’s Day this March, and only because I forgot - I wasn’t making merry with leprechauns or anything - and by the time I remembered, I was too lazy to get out of bed to write and publish anything. I reset my counter after missing St. Paddy’s Day, so today is day 230.
While others were glad just to have made it through, for me NaBloPoMo was exactly what I needed to develop a habit of thinking and observing and WRITING, and now I consider myself a real writer. No, I’ve not been paid for anything I’ve written. No, I’m not up for any awards (aside from the ones we bloggers pass around to each other) and I’ve not tried to publish anything beyond my blog. No, I don’t want to write a book and no, I don’t think that any of that matters worth a damn. I’m happy writing about my little life and my little experiences. People keep coming back to read and question and comment. That’s enough, I think.
I hope to keep you interested, entertained, and/or intrigued for the month of November. I plan to enjoy my other Na Blo Po Mo friends, new and old, as they make their way through the month. I hope to meet NEW bloggers as a result of the forum (I found some GREAT bloggers last year). It’s all good, all the time!
Ready? Set? POST!

Ah, commitments.
Who needs em?
Well, I am committed to my honey. That’s enough for one lifetime.
Happy NoBloPoMo!!!!
Happy NaBloPoMo to you! I’m quite sure that I will be doing my happy dance at the end of November, but for now I am very excited.
You make the rest of us look bad, what with the not slacking.
Tsk.
Yeah, what Contrary said. I dunno about OCD moron; you merely did and are doing something you love, albeit a tiny little bit obsessively. You are a teacher of writing who writes every day, and I’m inspired to work out of some of my writing quirks in this way, too. This is going to be such fun!
I’m here and I am reading!
