Ten Things Tuesday

Times TEN!
Gerry over at TwoBlueDay inspired me to put together a list of 100 songs that I love. I’ve finished it, and have posted it as a page on the blog. It would have made for a MONSTER post; WordPress has a word counter on my “create a post” page and this bad boy clocks in at just under 10,000. I think it’s best as a separate page.
Go up to the header and click on “100 songs” if you’re interested to see what I groove to on a regular basis. Remember that none of it is in order and that I’m constantly adding to the list. Also recognize that, as soon as I finished the list, I thought of about five more songs I should have included.
What are some of YOUR favorite songs?
Happy Tuesday!

Read the list, lots of good stuff, but, interestingly but perhaps not surprisingly, we have no overlaps. Artists, perhaps, but not one song. Actually, that’s pretty neat.
Could you tell me how to do the post under a separate tab? I’ll post my list, maybe we’ll start a trend!
I always liked that “Freedom” video, sexy. The song itself, for me, couldn’t stand up without it (the video).
“The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” was always one of my faves, too, going all the way back to my childhood.
“Blue on Black” just rocks! Awesome guitar work!
I may just have to post a couple (or more) entries based on songs now…
Me again. Regarding “Shackled:” this is, in fact, just about my least favorite VH song. When putting their music on my iPods, I omitted this tune. I’ve seen them do it live, and although Matt works like a demon on his guitar to make the song work, it just doesn’t work for me. I used the term “pretty neat” relative to liking different stuff, and I really mean that. I do not believe I am the arbiter of good taste, and it would be a less wonderful world if I were.
It would take me the rest of my life to come up with my list, as it would always be growing.

Let me look at my iPod library… the song played the most (at a whopping 133 listens) is “Epiphany” from the 2005 revival of Sweeney Todd. Wow. That scares me a little – probably would scare my wife (and co-workers) a lot! The show is about a homicidal barber and the baker that turns his victims into meat pies.
It’s a comedy, albeit a dark one. A very dark one.
I still don’t know who you are! Send me an email via my website and I’ll sset you up with some postcards!
We have a good many songs in common… We’ve “talked” about “Dancing Nancies” in the past, but I was intrigued by your choice of “The Boxer,” for I too can call that song to mind at will and sing it for days. Pure poetry.
Oh, and since you love “Ain’t No Sunshine,” look up Emily King; she does a beautiful cover of it.
I will be doing this 100 song thing sometime soon… How long did it take?
