Guess what was in my mailbox when I came home this afternoon….
It turns out that I didn’t need the book to get the most out of the workshop, but it would have been nice to have it.
The workshop was good, though I’m not sure that it I’m going to be able to use a lot of the information that I got from it in my classes. Still, I’m glad that I went; I can see a lot of use for the thinking the seminar generated in my political life. I want very much to expand upon the work I started with TCC’s GSA, and the topic of bystanders is a relevant one when we’re thinking about the rights of “others.” I want my kids to think about how defending the rights of people who aren’t like themselves defends their rights, too.

i just hate it when stuff like this happens—the late delivery and the not needing it.
I’m glad you went to the workshop. When you do read the book you will garner so much more of the essence of the question.
It is about us, not them, or me.
things have been showing up late at our house as well…. glad the workshop was good. i’m so thankful for teachers like you that really care about their students.
I’m doing a writing exercise with my students about being bystanders, based on Gerda Klein’s book…
