Ten Random Things, because random’s all I’ve got right now:
1. I LOVE writing to the WordPress support people. I was having trouble with my front page this weekend - my sidebar wasn’t showing up - and when I wrote to support about it yesterday, Barry wrote me back and said that I had something called undisclosed div tags in my “A New Class” post, and he suggested making sure all of my HTML tags are closed. I LOVE it when they talk to me like I know what ANY of that means…
2. I really don’t have any regrets in my life - there is nothing that I would go back and change or undo. I do have at least one profound sadness, though, and that’s that I haven’t been able to do anything with my ASL training. The vibes that I get off the Universe tell me that it’s not something I’ll ever be able to use to my full potential, and I’m taking that as a lesson in limits. Still, I get reminded of that sadness every once in a while - twice this week, as two separate friends sent me this and this, and I’ve seen this all over, and I’ve been able to remember how very much I miss that beautiful language and some of the wonderful people I knew who communicated with it. Sigh.
3. I’ve decided to show my lit. students the Kenneth Branagh version of Hamlet. All of it. It’s going to chew up a lot of class time, but I think it’ll be worth it just to have them be able to follow along with their texts. I’ll keep you posted over here on how it goes.
4. Does anyone have a really kick-ass recipe for cream of mushroom soup? I’ve been feeling a need for the stuff ever since I had some almost wonderful soup at a local sandwich shop a couple of weeks ago (I say “almost” because, while it was just the right mix of mushroom and cream and onion, someone was way too heavy-handed with the black pepper).
5. I am starting to get frustrated with myself in that I’ve got a bunch of little, piddling things to do, but I’m not doing them. I need to get off my proverbial ass and stop procrastinating - the build-up is starting to really bother me. I think I’ll start tomorrow….
6. Half of my family is sick. Beanie’s got a sore throat thing going on, and Mr. Chili’s been hit with some sort of fatigue, headache, general feeling of being run over by a truck thing. It may be that he’s caught a bit of the flu and that the flu shot is fending it off as best it can. I don’t know - can my docs tell me if it’s possible to have flu symptoms without actually having the flu, or does he just have a really good cold?
7. Bo’s chosen our new Dark and Stormy Book Club book for this month; Three Men in a Boat. I’m hoping I can find it at my local Barnes and Noble - I’m hoping to hit that place up with O’Mama this afternoon armed with the gift card my in-laws gave me for my birthday. It’s likely they won’t have it, though, but that’s okay; it’s in the public domain and the link I’ve given you up there is for the free e-text.
8. If you’re reading me from a Super Tuesday state:
Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Georgia
Idaho (Democratic Party Only)
Illinois
Kansas (Democratic Party Only)
Massachusetts
Minnesota
Missouri
New Jersey
New Mexico (Democratic Party Only)
New York
North Dakota
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Utah
and you haven’t already, go out and vote. No, really, go; I’ll wait right here…..
9. I know I’m a Patriots fan, but I can’t help but love Peyton Manning. He makes some really cute ads, and he seems like he’s got a genuinely good heart. This is my most recent favorite. Dude, I know how you feel….
10. We woke to a lovely layer of snow this morning - and it’s still coming down - but our district is NOT among the 259 271 schools which are closed or delaying their opening. I can tell you for sure that OUR road hasn’t yet been plowed, and I’m betting that the bus drivers are going to have a hell of a time getting around. I’m hoping this doesn’t portend a rotten rest of the day…
Happy Tuesday, All!

that’s my P! lurve me some Manning.
I don’t have a good cream of shroom recipe, but I do have a great slow cooker cream of potah-toh recipe.
If the only thing you enjoy about the NFL is watching the games, then, yes, this is a depressing time of year - though you could always watch the Pro Bowl if you were really desperate.
If you’re like me, however, this is a really interesting part of the NFL process. The Scouting Combine (where the vast majority of the draft-eligible college players go to work out for pro scouts) starts in just over two weeks. Free agency starts on the last day of the month. The Draft is just over two months away. Now is the time you watch your team to see if they’re doing what you believe is necessary for them to improve over what they did last year.
Now is the time I wish I had the NFL Network!
How did Tuesday become “Ten Things Tuesday?”
Maybe I’ll try it.
You know, I’ve never seen a Shakespeare play performed live. Wonder if I ever will.
Happy Tuesday, Chili!
You know, I’ve been hearing about an increase in performance pieces and art pieces by Deaf people. Some have even gone to so far to say they are the next step in language. It is beautiful…
I hope I can get out and vote today…
Gerry, Tuesday has been Ten Things Tuesday here at the Blue Door for a little more than a year now. I came up with it both because I like the alliteration and because I needed content, so I decided that Tuesdays would be list days. I’ve got quite a following now. Join us; it’s fun!!
I really respect him as well. The Manning boy gives a lot of time and energy to the children’s hospital here in town as well. I believe I heard that he is a BIG financial supporter to the children’s cancer research as well.
I hope your family feels better. If we ever meet, we can sign together. I’m pretty good at ASL, and I rarely get to use it.
Gah! I’ve said the word Tuesday WAY more than 10 times today and I still forgot it was a 10 things day. I’ll do that soon.
I’m in New York, and I’m voting tonight.
I love Peyton too… watching him root for his brother was really fun. Sorry your Pats lost, but at least they lost to the Giants. Small solace, I’m sure.
Peyton. Blech. And I’d say that even if I wasn’t a Pats fan. Eli, however, got the better end of the stick.
If it’s any consolation to you, the ways in which you DO use ASL make a difference. Even though we don’t use it often, if we’re not being as quick on the uptake, or the put down, as ProfDocJr wants us to be, he whips out the sign for cracker that you taught him.
I don’t mind Peyton and I don’t get why so many people dislike him. That is a great ad!
More then half your family is sick. I still feel run down too. Give the Beaner some ice cream for that sore throat!
Love,
Auntie
Don’t worry. I’ll caucus after work.
Me too…meee toooo. big sigh
I totaly love ISL and am jealous of those that speak and read it. Whenever I go to a concert or show that includes ISL, I just watch that. Poetry in motion. Mrs. Chili and everybody that can, please bring it on to the rest of us. Thanks.
Hey, Kizz, I’ve printed out and posted flyers from here. You just go Girl!
Good luck, break a leg, have fun.
Hilarious Peyton from SNL last year:

You got snow? I would love to have snow. Love it. It hasn’t snowed in New York City in years. *sniff*
You’re showing Branagh! (happy dance)
