** I was trying very hard to not bitch about Daylight Saving Time. I feel like I was just griping about it falling back, and now we’re springing ahead again, and I’m really, really not looking forward to having to get up to teach my fitness classes tomorrow morning. I think Bo summed it up best when he commented on Seester’s site that “Daylight Saving Time is obnoxious, disruptive, and unnecessary.” Yes. Yes it is.
** Beanie and Daddy had their Daddy-Daughter dance at the elementary school last night. Punkin’, as a middle-schooler, isn’t invited to this dance anymore, so I decided that we were going to have some serious Mommy and Me time. I rented Gracie, we ordered a pizza and snuggled in to watch the film. The movie was over before Daddy and Beanie got home, so Punkin’ and I headed upstairs to give ourselves pedicures. I teach yoga, so my feet get a lot of proverbial air time; I try to take good care of my piggies. I’m not used to having colored toe nails, though; it’s going to take me a while to get used to it.
** I am WAY behind the learning curve. While I was surfing the internet on Thursday (the student I had arranged to meet for an extra-help session never showed), I ended up at Michael’s site and was cruising through his blogroll. I ended up at lolcats and I spent the next ten minutes clicking through the archives and laughing out loud. I’m particularly fond of this one:
People have been laughing about this stuff for a long time now, and I’m just catching on. It’s just a coincidence that this one has correct grammar; honestly, I think that the fractured grammar on most of them is funny and I’m not sure the captions would be quite as effective if they were grammatically correct.
** I’m going to have to give up my yoga class at L.U. starting in April. TCC has some work for me next term, and my schedule is back to a T/TH routine. I’m sorry to have to give up the yoga class, but I’m really glad that I’m losing my job just yet.
** It’s pouring rain right now, and it’s likely to continue pouring until morning. The state’s emergency management department has been issuing flood warnings for the past few days, and has a “significant” concern about this coming spring and the potential for moderate to severe flooding due to heavy rains and an unusually deep snow pack. The Chili homestead sits on a hill, but the foundation was chipped out of ledge - we essentially sit in a big stone bathtub. When the ground gets too saturated, water starts to bubble up through the floor. We’ve got a good sump pump, but it might not be a bad idea for us to consider adding a generator to the loop - if the power goes out, we’re kinda screwed.
** We bought the girls some easter dresses today at Target. They chose little chiffon numbers in muted shades of blue (Punkin’ Pie) and pink (Beanie). The girls will be adorable, but they’re also going to be COLD. I’m certain the weather won’t be chiffon-friendly in two weeks.
** I’m considering taking up the Civics on Saturday (or Sunday) habit again - I’ve got some questions about civil rights that I’m trying to work through. Did anyone like that feature? I didn’t get a whole lot of feedback the few weeks I did it.
** Prepare yourselves for more anatomy and yoga discussion tomorrow; Yoga National Guard is in two weekends, and I’ve got a lot of muscles to learn between now and then.
That’s all I’ve got for you today, folks. Have a great Saturday!

I was thinking of you today as I drove on the double numbered highway near you. I was telling the Mr. a Mrs. Chili story and then whoosh - your school was right there. I’d never seen it in person before. Could you tell I was nearby? Could you feel the earth move? We were actually coming from that place I told you about this morning and heading to P-town to go to Best Buy.
The rain and travel was horrible!
I don’t mind falling back one bit, but the springing forward pisses me off no end.
I too am a lolcats addict.
Chatty, now that you mention it, there WAS a disturbance in the force this afternoon! Just out of curiosity, which Mrs. Chili story were you telling?
Meno, I hate, hate, HATE springing ahead. It’s stupid and annoying and pointless. I’ve already turned my oven clock ahead and am trying to think that it’s NINE instead of EIGHT as I write this. I know I’m just kidding myself, but it’s worth a try. I’m going to hate like HELL to get up to go to work in the morning. That 8:30 a.m. class is gonna SUCK.
I seem to always be behind the trends. People have been loving lol cats for a long time and I’m just now catching up.
I was just thinking about my toenails today. It is time to start grooming them, now that sandal weather is nearly here.
We’l try to suck it up and go to bed at 10:15 tomorrow night. HA! Wish us luck. As if our minds are stupid enough to listen to us…er, yah, it’s really 9:15, bedtime ya’ know.
We’re heading out to the next time zone for a few days at the end of the week. Won’t our personal time clocks be so screwed up? We’ll be ok if we know what day it is never mind what time it is. But hey, we’ll always have the Georgia Seaquarium (if not Paris) to remember.
It took me several attempts to figure out that whole LOL cats thing. I think one night when my son and daughter were looking at it and laughing hysterically at it, it finally sunk in.
Daylight savings time really doesn’t bother me that much. Of course if I had to get up tomorrow morning it might.
We all staggger about like zombies after the clocks go forward. School starts at 8 am in France and the school bus calls here at 7 before wandering along country lanes for an hour to complete a 20 minute journey. Does that mean I will be getting up at 5.30 body clock time? aaaargh
Nice toes!
I’m in Arizona, and we don’t observe DST. Still, I hate that we’ll be 3 hours behind everyone in the East for the next 6 months.
DST is stupid…
But that cat is hilarious.
love that site. it’s my favorite bit of randomness for every day, because i know it’ll make me laugh.
I think it’s important to give some love to your toes!
Civics is fine, maybe I’ll participate more this time.
It looks like the little toe on your left foot is different than the others. None of us are perfectly symmetrical, are we?
