It was a good trip!
I was able to connect with Steve and we had a fantastic lunch together. I learned all about his family and his MBA adventures and his upcoming trip to Vietnam; we really hit it off and I’m so glad that he was willing to spend part of his afternoon in an airport just to be with me. The next time we find ourselves in the DC area, I’m calling him again, without question.
My flight out of DC was delayed a bit, but not enough to inconvenience anyone who was waiting for me on this end (though I do have to say that I was a bit edgy when some of the people who were waiting to get on the plane with me were being a little too casual about bandying the word “tornado” about. The flight to Alabama was quite smooth, given the general cloudiness and ick I saw outside our windows and my nervousness at the idea of landing in Oz). I recognized Bo at the airport, retrieved my suitcase from baggage claim and had a wonderful evening of veggie lasagna, Krispy Kreme bread pudding, and conversation with Bo, Seester, Lea and Bruder. Tomorrow’s plans include the Dark and Stormy podcast, lunch out, and some sort of Alabama themed adventure (I’m not sure if I should be worried or not…). I’m already having a fantastic time, and I’m so glad we could make this happen.
I’m composing this entry from my bed at Bruder’s house, with his cat kneading on my leg and the sound of rain dripping off the roof. I’ll write more tomorrow; I’m a little road weary, and my pillow is calling to me.

We’re delighted you’re here! And I share your sentiment about how glad you are “we could make this happen.” It’s hard; we’re all grown-ups with grown-up things to do, and geographically inconvenient besides. This is definitely the kind of thing that’s worth a bit of logistical effort, though!
See you in the morning. Fair warning: I’m torching the book, and then torching the ashes, and then torching the ashes of the ashes.
Glad your safely there! I think you promised me a text message..
I had a great time as well. Best airport lunch I’ve had in years.
Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Steve
it’s the perfect time to be in the south. even with the rain. hope your day is wonderful.
Glad you made it there safely. Flying is just not so much fun these days.
Krispy Kreme bread pudding sounds like a cardiac bomb!
