Just a couple of random things this morning, as I wait for Bo to arrive to take us to Seester’s to do our Dark and Stormy Podcast:
** Spring has made an appearance in Alabama. When I left New England yesterday, it was snowing. Everyone here is apologizing for the “cold,” but really anything over 40 degrees feels like heaven to me, so I’m happy. Yes, it’s overcast and gray, but it’s not snowing and there are leaves on the trees.
** I made it through two airports with my 4 oz. bottles of contact solution without being arrested and sent to Guantanamo!
** Krispy Kreme bread pudding is something that defies description. Seriously - sticky, heavy, crazy-sweet with the added kick of rum in the glaze. While it’s certainly not something I (or my ass) can handle on anything approaching a regular basis, it was an experience I’m really glad I got to have.
** The anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination was yesterday. Please go here and here for some wonderful remembrances and tributes, and think about what you can do in your life to continue the work that this important man started.
** Bruder’s cat has an abscess on her paw, and is hobbling around with a happy-face bandage on it. She’s quite put out and annoyed, but she made a good sleeping buddy with me last night.
** There is no internet access at Reagan National Airport. Wait - let me rephrase that - there is no FREE internet access at National. If there were, I’d have posted from my trip. Who makes people pay for wireless anymore? Bastards.
** I’m trying my very best to stay on Eastern time while I’m out here. For as much as I bitch about DST, I figure it’s not right for me to have to go through it TWICE. Of course, that means I’m confused most of the time (I got ready for Bo an hour before he arrived, which is why I’m posting here now; I found myself with some extra time once I figured out that he isn’t stupidly late).
** I really didn’t like the book I chose for the Dark and Stormy Book Club this month, and I’m disappointed by that. For the first time we were together to do a discussion, I really wanted an excellent read. Oh, well - I’m certain we’ll make it work and have a grand time ripping the book to shreds this morning.
More later - hopefully, with pictures!

The book choice - just another reason to get together and do it again!
Sorry you didn’t like the book; I know it’s not high literature, certainly, but I did kind of enjoy it … I guess I’ll listen and learn your reasons!
yes please, more, with pictures
This is the time of year that I LOVE to call my family in New England. Although this weekend is rainy and damp, it’s still 60 degrees out. And as I mentioned in a previous comment, the flora is in full bloom, especially the wisteria - make sure they show you a huge 80′ tall patch of it growing up a pine forest, the purple blooms are breathtaking.
By your next trip to AL we’ll be all settled in B’ham. Can’t wait…

Take some nice spring-like pictures please.
Sounds like the trip is going well.
Spring here has been thundershower days. It’s a bit early for our typical summer pattern (lots of heat and humidity leading to disturbed air and thunderstorms). I’m being a good dooby and have shut off my sprinklers whilst this pattern persists.
Thanks for your nice comment about my photo awards.
It just seems nuts to me that every airport does not have free WiFi.
Logan makes you pay for wireless, even Starbucks makes you pay. So stupid.
Glad you’re having a good time!
I’ve been in a number of airports, and they make you pay for wireless, which is a crying shame.
Also, I hate not liking a book. It makes me mad that I would spend time reading a book that I end up not liking. I’m sorry to had to go through that.
