I’m feeling a bit scattered and random today, Dear Readers, so you’re getting whatever spills out of my head.
* Speaking of my head, I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that he doesn’t think I’ve got anything to worry about. The bump on my forehead where my cyst used to be feels to him like inflammation (inflammation that he says will take anywhere from 3-6 months to dissipate; what’s up with THAT?!). Until then, I may start dabbing a little powder on the thing, just so that I don’t feel so conspicuous (I know, I know - that’s a strange thing to hear from a woman who walked around with Hello Kitty band-aids on her head for a week and a half, but work with me - that shit gets old).
* I’m going to a fitness workshop tonight that focuses on teaching step classes to the entire spectrum of abilities. I’ve been kind of down on my step class lately - my heart just hasn’t been in it - and I’m hoping that this will be inspiring. If nothing more, I hope to come away with a few new patterns; I’m starting to get sick of my same old stuff.
* There are buds on our trees! I’m not getting TOO worked up about it - I’m still not convinced it’s not going to snow again before we’re truly out of winter - but it’s a hopeful sign that spring is actually trying to claw its way into my neighborhood.
* Mr. Chili and I decided not to have the rest of our house resided last year. The price of cedar siding was ridiculous, and we thought that it might go down once the housing bubble burst. We were stupidly wrong. The prices have gone up significantly, and we’re now trying to decide what the hell to do about it.
* I’ve rediscovered Toblerone. Yum.
* So far (knock wood), I’m keeping up with grading and recording for my classes. Because the college is closing, the administration wants to keep a close eye on how students are performing - the idea is that if we keep on them, fewer will fail, they’ll graduate when they’re supposed to, and the school will be able to close on time. This means that instructors have to give reports in weeks three, five, and eight of an eleven-week term. I promised myself that I’d keep up with it all because I didn’t want to come off to my boss the way many of my students come off to me; I want to be responsible and competent and ready. So far, so good.
* Today is the anniversary of the Virginia Tech. shootings. I wish I could say that we’re safer today than we were a year ago, but I can’t. I feel LESS safe, as a matter of fact, and that makes me angry.
* That’s about all I’ve got for you today, Kids. I’m going to go raid my filing cabinet for today’s public speaking class lesson, then I’m outta here. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hi. As it turns out, we are flying out of Boston about 8:30 in the evening next Wednesday, a meeting for a bite at Quincy Market is not out of the question. We would return our rental car, then cab back and forth.
I feel the same about Virginia Tech and safety.
Isn’t it weird that the housing bust hasn’t caused those depending on house-related stuff to get a grip?

Econ 101: Prices are rigid downward.
Once prices go up, companies resist lowering them. They still have to meet payroll, pay the light & heat bills, etc.
I love Toblerones!
Have I ever told you that I got certified to teach step last year? I’ve been taking step for years, and I love it, so I signed up for the $99 workshop with AFAA. But I never started teaching because I was just too busy with the MBA. Now I’m thinking about it again… Maybe once we’re moved…

Toblerone!!! YUM.
toblerone! very very yummy.
I believe it is finally Spring time here in Happy Valley. I ran the old gas out of the snowblower and tucked it away for the summer. The lawn will need mowing soon and we have some tree work being done. Not so many years ago I would have done the tree felling myself but I’ve gotten to an age where sixty footers are a damn lot of trimming and bucking up. I’ve also gotten to an age where we’ll pay somebody else to take it on. I can start the chainsaw for smaller things but the big trees, we pay somebody.
We’re with you mrschili, we are considering a construction project and are awaiting the blueprints and cost estimate. We hope we can but maybe we won’t.
Toblerone - the MILK chocolate one - is MY friend too.
Good for you on the keeping up with students thing - today is a turning point for me - I HAVE to get my grades into my computer program or I will officially be drifting backwards. The college has noble ambitions about reporting the many incipient failures and thereby somehow inspiring these students to get motivated and I don’t know, START handing in work and showing up for class. We’ll see how successful this campaign is, Now I am off to get grades in…
I coulda sworn I left you my cell phone number. Maybe you got rid of it for security purposes.
I do have connectivity, so you can email me or comment to perhaps discuss Wednesday next.
well apparantly my comment I posted here yesterday got trashed again arrgh!

It snowed her today. Remember that I live in a desert in Nevada. What’s up with that?
Ahh, Toblerone. Mmmm. I got hooked on them when I lived in London. Haven’t had one in years though.
