Hope Springs Eternal

I’m still not entirely convinced we’re out of the proverbial woods as far as winter is concerned - I’ve lived in New England long enough to know that we can still get substantial snowfall amounts well into May - but there are unmistakable signs that winter is losing her grip on my yard (click for larger images):
There’s some daylilies poking out of the ground, some forsythia and lilac buds, the Tree and a clump of chives that just keeps coming back year after year (Thanks, WeedWoman; I love them!).
I think the next image is of irises coming up (though they could be daylilies, too) and we know we’re turning weather corners by where the cats want to be most of the day. They’re all about being outdoors during the day time, but it’s still going into the 20s at night, so they’re still happy to be indoors on our beds at night.
Finally, the bees are back. This hole in the eaves of our garage is the portal to a bee house. I don’t mind bees living in the trees in the yard, but I’m not at all jazzed about them burrowing into the house. Mr. Chili is going to stage an eviction this weekend with a can of wasp killer. You may observe a moment of silence if you wish, but I’ll feel no regrets; it’s a small hop from the eaves of the garage to my babies’ bedroom.
Happy Thursday - happy spring!

Yeah, spring is here in Texas, but we just got hit with a week of 40′ish temps at night. A bit cool for spring, so winter is still lurking
TV
Just get those thoughts of snow right out of your head!!!! Spring has sprung and it’s here to stay!!!!!
The bees might be carpenter bees. I’m not sure if a spray will get them all. There is good information at the Univ. of Kentucky site. You can get there if you g**gle carpenter bees.
We’re greening up pretty fast here, the first daffs bloomed today but we’ve had hiacynths for a week. I almost put a screen insert into the breezeway but if I do, it’ll snow.
Good luck with the bees. There might be more than one nest.
We already have mosquitoes and fleas. That’s not bragging; that’s just spring in the Deep South.
HA! You Yankees are puling my leg. It cant be spring, it is too cold! I can’t wait for flowers and green again.
T.V., I have a distorted vision of Texas - I thought it was hot there year round. Not so?
Jen, I’m SERIOUSLY hoping you’re right (but I’m still not gonna hold my breath…
Laurie, you’re right; don’t jinx us by putting your screens up just yet. I’m not getting the short pants and sandals out until around Memorial Day.
Tense, the bugs are the only thing I’m NOT looking forward to (well, them and the pollen, but I don’t bitch too much about warm-weather things; I save all my griping for the stupid cold).
Tonks, Honey, it’s all about perspective. You’ve been through a couple of new England winters now; you know how welcome anything above 20 degrees is around here!
She was a daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, lily…one-way ticket, yeah…
If they are carpenter bees, grab your tennis racket!
Bee genocide?
We arrived here, Cape Cod, to find day lilies greening up, buds on almost everything, irises showing, etc. Also found a large bag of garbage someone had thoughtfully left in our garden, split open and messy, of course. That was my first task.
House seems fine, we got thermostats adjusted, and cable hooked up. We’ll be gone for another month when we return to Fla., but Honey’s brother might come by and use the house.
My body is adjusting to the cool, gradually!
