Bee genocide?

We arrived here, Cape Cod, to find day lilies greening up, buds on almost everything, irises showing, etc. Also found a large bag of garbage someone had thoughtfully left in our garden, split open and messy, of course. That was my first task.

House seems fine, we got thermostats adjusted, and cable hooked up. We’ll be gone for another month when we return to Fla., but Honey’s brother might come by and use the house.

My body is adjusting to the cool, gradually!

T.V., I have a distorted vision of Texas - I thought it was hot there year round. Not so?

Jen, I’m SERIOUSLY hoping you’re right (but I’m still not gonna hold my breath…)

Laurie, you’re right; don’t jinx us by putting your screens up just yet. I’m not getting the short pants and sandals out until around Memorial Day.

Tense, the bugs are the only thing I’m NOT looking forward to (well, them and the pollen, but I don’t bitch too much about warm-weather things; I save all my griping for the stupid cold).

Tonks, Honey, it’s all about perspective. You’ve been through a couple of new England winters now; you know how welcome anything above 20 degrees is around here!

The bees might be carpenter bees. I’m not sure if a spray will get them all. There is good information at the Univ. of Kentucky site. You can get there if you g**gle carpenter bees.

We’re greening up pretty fast here, the first daffs bloomed today but we’ve had hiacynths for a week. I almost put a screen insert into the breezeway but if I do, it’ll snow.

Good luck with the bees. There might be more than one nest.

Yeah, spring is here in Texas, but we just got hit with a week of 40′ish temps at night. A bit cool for spring, so winter is still lurking
