Holy crap, you guys! I’ve been moving pretty much non-stop since about last Thursday, and it shows no signs of letting up anytime soon. I’m sorry for the lameness of this post, but this is all I’ve got for you right now.
* The semester at TCC is ending, and I’m working like mad on grading final papers. So far, I’ve not got any failing students, though I’ve got a shocking number of them who are passing with skin-of-their-teeth grades. Sigh.
* Punkin’s got a field trip to Boston tomorrow. I hope the weather doesn’t suck too badly. It’s currently kinda cold and threatening rain, and tomorrow doesn’t look much better.
* As I look at my calendar, I see that I’m subbing six fitness classes in the next two weeks; on one day, I’ve got a subbed class at 5:45 a.m., another at 9:30 a.m., and a third at 5:30. I’m going to be one stretched out mama by dinnertime! I’ve really got to learn to say no.
* I’ve got to get over to LU to get all my paperwork squared away for teaching in September. I’ve also got to figure out what the hell I’m going to do with my summer hybrid lit class at TCC starting on the 7th. I know for sure that there will be movies involved, though, and I’m looking forward to that.
* I was accepted to a summer fellowship for teaching the Holocaust that starts in July. On Wednesday, I’m having lunch with the woman who will share my room for the week. From our emails, I suspect we’ll like one another, and I’m looking forward to meeting her in person; I’m REALLY hoping our personalities mesh. Also, I’ve got a shitload of reading and thinking to do ahead of that week, and I’ve got to get on that.
* A pair of birds made a nest in the fan vent of our downstairs bathroom. and if one stands very quietly, one can hear peeping coming from the opening in the wall. The hole is too high up for us to get a peek in there, though, or I’d post pictures. I’ll try to get a shot of one of the parents – maybe one of you can ID what kind of birds they are. (edited; here they are. This is the best picture I could get of one of the birds. S/he was some mad at me, too, because I was hanging out way too close to the hole…
which is here (don’t tell Mr. Chili that I was actually ON the roof to take this picture…)
(or that I was standing in the bathroom window taking this one. The nest must be pretty deep in there; I can’t really see anything – can you? I didn’t get a chance to look in there – I held the camera up and took my chances that I’d get a picture – because I was afraid of being dive-bombed. I was raising quite a ruckus from the bird. Sorry, Honey….)
* My grandmother is better, but still not great. I’ll update when I know more, though I likely won’t get a chance to visit her today. Sigh.
Okay, I’m outta here; I’ve got a TON of pitzy little errands to run before I have to get to class. Have a great Monday, Everyone!

Mr. G. is the bird man. I’ll show him the picture and get back to you with his verdict.
Cute bird, but have no clue what it is.
So much education, so little time…
you are a busy bee
First, stay off the roof! You know better than that! Dumb ass! Second, who are you and what have you done with my sister? YOU are going to teach a class at 5:45 am!? Wow!
oh check out this pic, faeries in a nest hehe

Mrs. G, if Mr. G knows, please tell me. These little birds have been sharing our residence for the last two summers, and I’ve yet to figure out what the heck they are.
Brenda, I’d have to live four lives to learn all I want to know. I just keep stuffing as much into my addled little brain as will fit at any given moment and hope for the best.
Rosie, TOO busy. I need a do-nothing day. Preferably one that involves lots of DVD movies and junk food…
Auntie, I KNOW. I ‘fessed up to Mr. Chili, and his exact words were “Are you TRYING to kill yourself?!” He was more upset about my standing out the bathroom window to get the in-the-vent shot than my climbing on the roof. And people CHANGE, you know. Having kids has shifted my entire schedule into the morning. I can be up and functioning way early, but I’m useless by about 9:30 at night.
Darren, I was hoping all they’d do is scream at me – I kept sending them “I’m not going to hurt anyone” energy; it must have worked. I love the print; I often wonder if faeries don’t take up residence in nests that birds abandon in the fall…
