Well, you summed up my feelings pretty well in the title.
With this recent spate of celebrity deaths, I’m starting to feel old.
but considering the alternative…I feel lucky.
Yes, he will be missed. I loved his word play…even the bad words.
His is a passing that stunned me. I also loved, reveled even, in his wordplay and his snarky derisiveness about our yes, bullshit and layers of cultural hypocrisies.
Those were great rants of his- you picked perfect ones to truly witness his genius.
thanks for telling me about him, I’d never heard of him before…he was carrying on the olympic flame of Lenny Bruce? I hope there is someone who can take it over now he is gone…
Whenever I watch a football game in which the clock is a big factor, I always hear his voice in my head: “Football is rigidly timed, and it will end, even if we have to go to sudden death.”
RIP, George. Thanks so much.
Looks like I found my next blog entry.
Hunter S Thompson
Kurt Vonegut
and now Carlin.
Son of a bitch.
A lot of fun is going out of the world
TV
Huge loss. He also was a wonderful narrator for the Thomas the Tank Engine Stories. Pish Posh!
Rosie:
I have to ask how old are you or what planet you are from that you never heard of George Carlin?
