Happy Friday, Everyone!
Seester’s got her Dead Daddy Day Lilies; Mrs. Chili has her Great-Grandmother Commemorative Edition Day Lilies. These were growing at my great-grandmother’s house and, after she died, I was given a bunch of these day lilies. They’ve spread out nicely – I’ve got a few clumps growing in various places in the yard – and I’m hoping they just keep multiplying. Thanks, Gram…
This is a blossom that will become a hosta flower. It will likely bloom while I’m gone next week, but that’s okay. Though you can’t see it from this picture, the bud is a lovely, soft purple – a color that makes me happy in flowers. These hostas came to us entirely by accident; they grew out of a pile of dirt that was delivered as part of the grading after the addition was built – so every year they come back is a gift. They’re actually doing quite well, given that they’ve been moved a few times (and, you know, scooped up by a bulldozer and all…);
This makes me happy. I have no concept of the schedule by which my African violets bloom; I have a bunch of them, and sometimes I’ll have non-stop flowers – and all at the same time – and sometimes it feels like years between a showing. Though I love to have plants indoors, I’m not a fussy gardener and, really, it’s a wonder anything survives – never mind thrives – under my care, but this is proof that I’m providing an adequate environment for my little green buddies:
Finally, this is another photo from my grandmother’s yard (which, incidentally, is next door to my great-grandmother’s house. Great-Gram was Grampa’s mother). I love these little flowers; they’re so cheerful and easygoing, kinda like my grandmother:
Okay – here’s the schedule for guest bloggers for the week the Chilis are chillin’ at the lake: Bo, dear friend and esteemed colleague, will post on Saturday, the 26th. Jules of Angst Girl is taking Sunday (she’s sent me her post already and I’ve scheduled it to go up – I didn’t even read it: I love surprises!). My sister, she of the evil laugh (should I be nervous?) is unleashing her particular brand of evil here on Monday. Kizz signed up for Ten Things Tuesday and Michael of the DLA Project is going to post on Wednesday. Darci, who, if I’m not mistaken, doesn’t have a blog (PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong, Darci), agreed to take on Thursday (and may even do something theme-y with it – Thirteen Things Thursday, perhaps? FUN!) and Ciboulette is on the roster for Friday. I need one more taker (Gerry? O’Mama?) for Saturday the 2nd, and that’ll be the week!
I’m SO looking forward to having you all spin your magic here; though it’s hard to hand over control of this place to other people, I love you all so much and have adored your writing for so long that I feel less like I’m giving something up and more like I’m getting presents! Thanks, you guys!!
Have a Fucking Fantastic Friday, Everyone! Tune in tomorrow – there are big happenings with the Chili girls tonight that will be featured then!

My lilies don’t seem to multiply. My ultimate goal is to get some in the back yard and have them line the border of grass and woods. I had some really pretty ones in the front mulch island, but I think Mr. Mole ate them. ::mumble::
I’m game for guest posting – just tell me exactly when I will happily do my bit. Rubs hands together….
I love these photos. Between you and O’Mama I can pretend I have a garden. If one of you would just bring me a Long Island Ice Tea and an Adirondack chair, I think it will help my fantasy.
You should!
Great FFF!
Lots of great flowers. CAn’t wait to see what up with the Chili girls!
