Ten Things Tuesday

Ten Awesome Things.

Lara, over at Life, the Ongoing Education, tuned me in last week to a wonderful new website called 1000 Awesome Things.  “PERFECT!” I thought, “next week’s theme!”  I’m going to write it fast, though, because I’ve kept myself from reading too far into the new blog’s list for fear of its tainting my own.  Here, then, are 10 things Chili thinks are awesome:

1.  Finding something addressed to me – in a friend’s handwriting – in my mailbox.  Even though, lately, most of the things coming to me personally have been sympathy cards, I really do love seeing the handwriting of someone who loves me in my mailbox.

2.  Finding a perfect parking spot (bonus points if it’s a metered spot and there’s more than enough time left from the last guy for me to do what I need to do.  SUPER bonus points if it’s a spot on campus at Local U.).  To be honest, this happens to me quite a lot, but I still think it’s awesome.

3.  Timing it so the potatoes are done at the same time as the steak.

4.  Finding a piece of blue sea glass on a walk on the beach (well, to be honest, I amend this to say “finding ANY piece of sea glass;” I think they’re all awesome).

5.  Slipping back into my own bed after several nights away.

6.  This video is AWESOME. We came across it at Gerry’s last weekend, and I near about lost it:

7.  Having a class just work; the kids are present and engaged, the lesson is making sense to the students, and I run out of time before I run out of material.  Awesome.

8.  My husband, my kids, and my friends-who-are-family.  Last week, the Chili and TwoBlueDay families were at an ice cream parlor in Martha’s Vineyard.  The jukebox started playing “Speedo” (an old song for which I cannot find a representative video; sorry) and Mr. Chili and Honey started dancing, ice cream in hand, heedless to anyone else who might be watching (Punkin’ Pie included).  We grinned like fools (Punkin’ Pie included).  I absolutely love my life.

9.  Waking up a few minutes ahead of my alarm clock and being able to ease into my day.

10.  Equality is awesome.  Morgan and her beloved came to New England from the desert southwest to be wed (we got to spend time with them yesterday!).  They will be legally married this morning in Boston.  It will be a great day when every state in the union refuses to discriminate, don’t you think?

  2. #3–YES! on the timing. In my life it’s so rare, but WHAT a treat!
#6–If that boy weren’t cute enough already, the red hair sent me over the edge. (I’m sure I’m not the only one!)
#7–YES! Last week was my first week of art classes. There were long stretches of silence in each class, telling me they were focusing and working. It was SO awesome. (I am taking a tougher approach, not that I’ve ever been a pushover, but I try to temper my strictness and have learned that might not be wise.)
#8–I agree. I love my life, too, and it makes me SO happy when I know others feel exactly the same way about their lives.

  3. Swiping the idea for my own TTT today. :-)

  4. Oh, and that video is hilarious!!!!!! :-D
