To all who served – and who continue to serve – thank you.
A special thank-you goes to my favorite veterans (and current servicemen) in no particular order: Father Chili, Bruder, Tonks, Gerry, BoBo and his Mrs., Matt, Auntie Teacher, and Grampa Bud.

Amen chili. I posted on this subject on my blog today. Mine is somewhat a Memorial Day one too, but that’s okay.
Dr. B
And for mine, thank you all. Dad, Bro’ Phil, Uncle Jim and Uncle John, many cousins, and the most loved, the conscientious observers, Dan, Dave, and Patrick. You stood your ground and paid the price.
The USA has now been in Afghanistan longer than we were in Viet Nam. Are we hooked on wars we can’t win? Go figure. Fewer deaths this time through. Instead we have more long term traumatic injuries and brain injuries. What price we all pay? Since when is trauma a retirement plan? That just sucks.
I support Veteran’s day, now let’s support our veterans. Get the government on board. Total health care coverage, from here on out for all of them and thier families.
Just sayin’
I’ll see you that health care coverage, Laurie, and raise you a get them out of Afghanistan and Iraq – RIGHT NOW!
I say lets have total health care (universal health care, “single payer”) for everyone. I do not feel entitled, as a non-wounded veteran, to a better system of health care than non-veterans. If the system were universal and adequate, wounded veterans would not need a better system, either, because, by definition, it would attend to their health needs properly.
Amazing how many countries less “wealthy” than ours manage to look after their populations so much better than we do.
As for these idiotic wars, they were stupid to start with, and have gotten stupider ever since (and I believe it likely that if we’d had a Democratic president after 9/11 we still would have embarked on these ruinous adventures).
