Quick Hit: Art and Life

We went to see The Hobbit this afternoon.  I wasn’t expecting to cry.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

Galadriel asks,Why the Hafling?” and Gandalf tells her,Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay… small acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins?   Because I am afraid, and he gives me courage.”

Everyday deeds.  Small acts of kindness and love.  The care and respect we have for one another, and for ourselves.  These are our power against the darkness, but only if we are mindful and deliberate and actually practice them.
